Yawakashahu built his path from childhood alongside his family and, especially, in the company of his father, the Pajé Yawarani. Until the age of 15, he learned through presence, observation and experience.

Beside him is Mami Yawanawa, daughter of the elder Mushuinu, his wife, companion on this path and mother of four children. Mami carries the songs, the ancestral body paintings and the crafts of her culture, passing this knowledge on to her daughters and to the women of the family and of the village.

Together, they strengthen the Yawakashahu Culture Center and the continuity of knowledge for the generations to come.

Mushuinu, at 70 years old, is the chief and elder of Aldeia Mushuinu, a territory that carries his name and became the home of the family he built throughout his life.

As the eldest in the village, Mushuinu carries a deep memory of the knowledge of his people. He is a great sage of the Yawanawa tradition, keeping knowledge of medicinal plants, the language, the culture and the history of his people.

Throughout his life he gathered knowledge that crossed generations and that today continues to be passed on by him to his children and grandchildren. His role is also to make sure this memory stays alive and keeps reaching the new generations.

Mushuinu is the father of Mami, Yawakashahu's wife, and the grandfather of a generation growing up in direct contact with these teachings and with life in the village.

Alongside his children, grandchildren and his whole family, he continues to strengthen this continuity, sharing what he received and lived throughout his journey.

Vari Rua began his path in Yawanawa spirituality at the age of 12, accompanying his father, Yawakashahu, and learning through shared living, listening and experience.

Son of Yawakashahu and grandson of Mushuinu and of the Pajé Yawarani, he deepened himself in the songs, the stories, the knowledge of his culture and in Yawanawa spiritual diets.

Today he accompanies his father on his travels, as his right hand and companion in the family mission. Through his voice and the musical instruments, he carries forward what he has been learning.

At 15 years old, Ninunihu Yawanawa grows up in deep contact with the knowledge and spirituality of her people, learning every day with her father, her mother and her grandparents.

Art is one of her main forms of expression. With a striking voice, a talent for instruments and the sensitivity to create her own melodies, she is beginning to build a musical identity.

Her talent also shows in the paintings and in the crafts: new ways of expressing an ancestral knowledge and continuing what will be passed on to the next generations.

Yãwã Rua is a young person building his path deeply connected to the spirituality and the knowledge of his people.

Son of Yawakashahu and Mami, and grandson of the elder Mushuinu, he grows up in direct contact with his family, receiving teachings that cross generations and that today are also part of his own journey.

Dedicated to the spiritual world, he has already undertaken some deep diets and continues to deepen his knowledge through experience, shared living and the teachings of his parents and grandfather.

Music is also one of his forms of expression. Yãwã Rua brings the strength of the songs and the instruments, finding in music a way to live and share what he has been learning on his path.

His talent also shows in the traditional arts of his people. He has great skill with Yawanawa graphic designs and paintings, and also develops work with curipe and Yawanawa crafts, expressing through his own hands elements of the culture he carries in his story.

Between spirituality, songs, instruments, paintings and crafts, Yãwã Rua represents a youth that grows up receiving the knowledge of its ancestors and begins to build, with dedication and talent, its own way of continuing this legacy.
